This year we twinned our celebration of Poetry week with Black History. Each year group studied a significant and inspiriational Black person:
EYFS were inspired by the book 'Hey You!' and Year 1 looked at Mary Seacole. Next door, in Year 2, the children enjoyed a fun-filled week of learning on the famous football legend Marcus Rashford. Year 3 learnt about Maya Angelou and her use of birds to symbolise freedom. In Year 4, the children re-enacted the famous speech of Martin Luther King. Year 5 considered the story of Rosa Parks and the impact she made on society whilst, in Year 6, the children studied Nelson Mandela and his long walk to freedom.
