At Holy Family, our Forest School provision aims to foster a lifelong love of nature, build resilience and inspire curiosity through meaningful, hands-on learning in the natural environment.

Every class is timetabled for three two-hour Forest School sessions during the academic year, ensuring that all pupils have regular opportunities to experience purposeful outdoor learning. Through exploring, investigating and learning in nature, pupils develop important life skills including confidence, independence, teamwork and problem-solving.

Forest School also supports children’s physical and emotional wellbeing, providing opportunities to take appropriate risks, overcome challenges and experience the enjoyment of learning outdoors.

Our provision reflects the principles of Catholic Social Teaching, particularly our responsibility to care for creation and one another. Pupils are encouraged to develop respect for the natural world, recognise their responsibility to protect it and appreciate the wonder of God’s creation.

Forest School enriches our wider curriculum and supports our commitment to developing well-rounded, compassionate and responsible young people, providing every child with opportunities to learn, grow and thrive beyond the classroom.
