The safeguarding and wellbeing of our pupils is of paramount importance at The Holy Family Catholic Primary School.

We are committed to providing a safe, caring and supportive environment in which every child can learn, grow and thrive.

All members of staff are subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, and the school follows robust Safer Recruitment procedures when appointing new staff.

All staff receive regular and ongoing safeguarding training. This ensures that everyone understands the school’s safeguarding procedures, maintains up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding issues and remains vigilant in identifying and responding to concerns.

We take the safeguarding of every child extremely seriously. If a parent or carer has any concerns about a child’s safety, welfare or wellbeing, we encourage them to share these concerns with the school as soon as possible.

If you have a concern, please speak to your child’s Class Teacher or a member of our Safeguarding Team.

Policy Statement on Safer Recruitment

The Holy Family Catholic Primary School is committed to the safeguarding and protection of all children, young people and adults within our school community. We will carefully select, train and support all those with any responsibility within the School, in line with Safer Recruitment principles of the KSCMP (Kent Safeguarding Children Multi-agency Partnership).

This means that we will:

Ensure that our recruitment and selection processes are inclusive, fair, consistent and transparent.
Take all reasonable steps to prevent those who might harm children who may be vulnerable, from taking up in our school, positions of respect, responsibility or authority where they are trusted by others.
Adhere to safer recruitment legislation, guidance and standards, responding positively to changing understandings of good safer recruitment practice.
Always seek advice from human resources personnel to achieve best possible practice.
Ensure training on safer recruitment practice guidance is maintained and relevant to current legislation and guidelines
Ensure our systems for monitoring adherence to safer recruitment practice are reviewed on a termly basis and documented as such, at an annual EGC.

Online Safety

Online Safety is an integral part of every unit in our Computing Scheme of Work, Kapow! It is taught both explicitly and on an ad hoc basis.

As well as a focused Online Safety Day, lessons concentrate on teaching children how to keep themselves and others safe online. Our daily safeguarding class quiz questions incorporate online safety knowledge suited to the year group. Our teaching aims to highlight the positive uses of technology and explore the role we all play in helping to create a better and safer online community both in school and at home.

Always be careful when you are using the internet. It can help you to keep in touch with your friends and help your education – but it can also cause harm – to you and to others.

Remember help is always available at school if you are having any problems online.

Don’t be afraid to talk to your teacher or another adult at school.

Tips for staying safe online:

Make sure you keep new online friends strictly online. If someone you don't know asks to be your online friend you must ensure an adult knows about it.
Know how to use the CEOP Button and how to report it to the CEOP Centre if you are concerned about someone’s online behaviour towards you.
