RE

‘Celebrating our new Bibles’

We reviewed the different styles of Bibles. The children discussed what they liked about each version and the differences between them.

What is the difference between these?
Olivia C - “This one looks a lot older”

Kenny - “Some are for adults and these are for children”

Preston - “This one is tiny!”

DT

African Huts

We have been using clay to make our own African Huts. They were each given a piece of clay, sticks and rolling pin to create their own version of a hut.

Maths

Different types of money

We looked at types of coins and notes from different periods of time. There were coins from the “Silver Jubilee 1977”, “Queens Golden Jubilee” and the “Kings Coronation”. We also had older notes that are no longer in circulation varying from recent years to 20 years ago. Not only this, we have been working on counting money currently in circulation and learning every coin and note.

Healthy vs Unhealthy Foods

We discussed which foods were healthy and unhealthy. The children sorted the food into two separate piles and we spoke about why they were healthy or not healthy. We came to the conclusion that no food is ‘unhealthy’, it’s about eating in the right moderation!

Science

Growing our own plants

We have looked at living things and how they grow. Each child had their own pot and added soil, a seed and some water. We will have another look in a few weeks time to see how much the plants have grown!
