Science
Identify what soil is made of. Observe and record findings.
As a class, we looked at the soil we had collected previously; we could see twigs, leaves and some small stones. We discussed how this is all organic matter made from dead plants or animals.
We collected some twigs, vegetable peeling, leaves and separated them into 3 containers. We created different types of soli by adding clay, chalk or sand that we had gathered into separate containers. The children knew this was sedimentary soil!
