Family Liaison Officer (FLO)

Hello,

My name is Mrs Avis and I am the Family Liaison Officer (FLO) at Holy Family CP School.

Part of the Family Liaison Officer’s (FLO) role is to provide pastoral care and support to our children and their families.

I work with any child and family who may need short or long term support whether that is due to issues with attendance, punctuality, behavioural issues, home situations, bereavement or illness. The aim of the support is always to encourage and develop engagement and communication between the school and families. Through this engagement the aim is for the children to feel better supported and more able to access all the learning opportunities available to them at Holy Family RCP School. I also work with families to help and guide them through processes of working with external organisations, such as Early Help, School Nursing, Kent Young Carers and others agencies.

I run monthly meetings for the children who are Young Carers. This is an opportunity for those children to get together, have fun, discuss any concerns they may have with each other and more importantly ‘not to feel that they are alone.’

I also supervise Breakfast Club each morning from 8.00-8.45am, where children enjoy their breakfast with their friends and fun activities to wake up the brain ready for the day ahead, ready for their learning.

I am always willing to listen to any questions, worries, concerns or queries that you may have. My door is always open.

I am seen most mornings on the school gate welcoming children into school and again at the end of the day.

I can also be contacted via the school office on 01622 756778 or pop into school and I will come and speak to you.
