Term 3 - 2021-22

A big welcome back to Term 3.
In art and design this term, the children will begin to design and build a structure based on Gustave's Eiffel Tower, which links to our geography topic on France. Before they get started on this, they were keen to finalise their textile designs from last term (based on Lucienne Day). Don't they look impressive?

Planets in our solar system πŸͺβœ¨πŸ‘½πŸ”β˜„οΈπŸš€

Year 6 made a scale model of the solar system using different fruits to represent their sizes and considered their distance from the Sun. We used the scale model: Earth is 1 metre the Sun = 150 million kms. As we placed each planet in position, we studied the temperature, appearance, number of moons and the amount of days in one year.

'Sharing isn't always caring...' πŸ‘©πŸΎ‍πŸ’»

We considered how to keep ourselves safe in the digital world and used Frankie's story to discuss how we, as our independence increases, are increasingly expected to become more responsible in the choices we make online. One of the key messages during this session was the importance of making the right decision to keep ourselves, and others, safe online. The children then summarised the session and key learning points in a hashtag #️⃣. Look at some of our ideas...

Listen and appraise 🎢🎀

Using Pharrell William's song named happy, we considered many different musical elements such as the tempo, dynamics, structure, pulse and pitch. We used our bodies to find the underlying beat of the song and used clapping to find the rhythm.

PE

Year 6 loved their realPE gym session yesterday. They attempted several partner balances and focused on the importance of supporting each other appropriately.

Space and beyond πŸ”πŸ§‘‍πŸš€

The children have been super busy researching, collating and recording information ready to write their non-chronological reports.

Here are the class spelling and arithmetic superstars celebrating their top scores today!🌟
