Term 4

This term is packed with exciting learning experiences. In English, we will explore Belonging by Jeannie Baker, examining themes of community and change. In Religion, we will connect these ideas to the Eucharist, reflecting on how it brings people together in faith.

Our Science unit focuses on Earth and Space, where we will investigate the solar system, Earth's place in it, and how celestial movements affect our planet. In History, we will delve into the fascinating Shang Dynasty, uncovering its culture, achievements, and legacy.

Additionally, our Mini Vinnies group will launch the Open a Door campaign, working alongside the Pilgrim of Hope initiative to support those in need.

Let's make Term 4 a great one!

This term, the  are launching the Open a Door initiative in connection with the Pilgrim of Hope.

This project encourages us to reflect on ways we can bring hope and kindness into our community.

Each month, Mini Vinnies will send out a new prayer and a special door to open in every class, symbolising an opportunity to help others and grow in faith.

Through small acts of generosity and compassion, we can all make a meaningful difference!

During the month of February:

As a class, we created drawings to send to the local care home. We wanted to spread the message of love and community - wanting those there to know we were thinking of them and to hopefully bring a smile to the faces.

Recycling is an important way to care for our environment and reduce waste. By reusing materials, we can help protect our planet for future generations. This term, we are excited to launch our new initiative, Country Style – Let’s Be Litterate, introduced at our whole school assembly. This program encourages everyone to take responsibility for keeping our school and community clean by reducing, reusing, and recycling.

Together, we can make a difference and create a cleaner, greener future!

RE : Recreating the Last Supper

The Last Supper holds deep significance as the moment Jesus shared a final meal with His disciples, instituting the Eucharist as a symbol of His sacrifice. It represents love, unity, and the promise of salvation, reminding us of Christ’s selfless act for humanity. This sacred event calls us to reflect on gratitude, faith, and the importance of communion with God and one another. By remembering the Last Supper, we are invited to embrace humility, forgiveness, and the enduring power of Christ’s presence in our lives.

Here in year 5, we have recreated the Last Supper with a freeze frame.

Can you guess who in each group they are portraying?

Once again it was time to show off our phonetical skills. Each year group had two champion contenders. After many practice auditions, Faith- Gabriella and Rozanne were to fly the flag for Year 5. The silence and tension in the room was palpable each time a new opponent stepped up to the front. All who took part were absolutely amazing, especially our two, and we want to congratulate them all.

WINNER = Rozanne

Runner-up = Faith- Gabriella

World Book Day is a celebration of the joy and power of reading, encouraging people of all ages to explore books and discover new stories. It promotes literacy, creativity, and a love for learning, highlighting the importance of books in shaping minds and broadening perspectives. The day also supports authors, illustrators, and publishers, emphasising the value of storytelling in connecting cultures and inspiring imagination. Whether through reading, sharing, or gifting books, World Book Day reminds us that literature has the power to educate, entertain, and bring people together.

RE : Sikhism

We have been exploring Sikhism, learning about its core beliefs and practices. Sikhism teaches values such as equality, selfless service, and devotion to God, which are important in our Catholic faith as well. just as Sikhs follow the principles of sewa (selfless service) to help others, we live out Jesus’ teaching to love our neighbour and care for those in need. By learning about Sikhism, we deepen our understanding of different faiths and strengthen our commitment to respect, kindness, and faith in God.

Celebration of the Word

Our very own Faith-Gabriella led a beautiful Celebration of the Word on Forgiveness, which she created entirely on her own and delivered to the whole school with confidence and grace. Her message reflected the heart of our Catholic values - compassion, mercy, and reconciliation - showing a deep understanding of God’s love. Through her leadership, she embodied key principles of Catholic Social Teaching, including dignity, community , and the call to live justly. We are incredibly proud of Faith for inspiring us all to embrace forgiveness, just as Jesus taught, and for being a shining example of faith in action.

Science: Online Science Day - Maze Run

COMPUTING - STOP MOTION

We have been incredibly lucky to have Mr Berry come into class to teaching us how Stop Motion works and to help us create our very own animation videos. He even brought in his own Lego figures for us to use, we then added extra props from around the classroom, and added sounds and dialogue. We will spend the rest of the term creating new creations, which Mr Berry has agreed to come back to see the end results.

ART: Van Gogh - Cafe Terrace at Night

We have been learning how to draw in perspective, exploring how to create depth and dimension in our artwork. Using these skills, we created our own versions of Van Gogh's Café Terrace at Night, adding our own style while practicing the techniques of perspective and composition.

Jubilee Year - Pilgrim of Hope

Today, we were deeply honoured to take part in a very special celebration as we received the Candle of Hope from Anne-Marie Whittle. This meaningful moment symbolises resilience, unity, and the light we can all share with one another. Being chosen to continue the journey of the Candle of Hope is a privilege we are truly grateful for, and we are proud to be part of such an inspiring tradition.
