Maidstone launches its first ever arts trail – and we’re part of it!

We are overjoyed to announce that Holy Family will be part of an incredible sculpture trail which will be installed in and around Maidstone this summer.

From 20th June to 23rd August 2020, a parade of fabulously colourful and unique elephants will take you on a trail around the bustling town centre, the beautiful Mote Park and some popular landmarks. This family event will feature around 50 Elmer sculptures designed by some amazing artists, both well-known and emerging. The trail will encourage families to have fun exploring and being captivated by the sculptures.

This wonderful event is set to raise tremendous funds for the Heart of Kent Hospice, a charity that is close to the hearts of so many in our school community. The story of Elmer fits perfectly with Holy Family’s special Bible story: “The Lost Sheep”, which reminds us of how every single individual is of infinite worth to God.

Thanks to the incredible persuasion skills of our own Mrs Barrington in the office, we were able to raise the £750 participation amount in just one day. We have two fantastically generous sponsors: Maidstone Scaffolding and RAP Interior Design.

This afternoon we had our launch assembly, and are now the proud parents of our very own baby Elmer sculpture to design and paint. The team at Kent Messenger joined us for our assembly, so look out for us in the edition coming soon! Everyone is now busy writing poems and creating designs for our loveable sculpture, and we are delighted to be taking part!
